Silencing From Bali: How Tri Hita Karana Urges The World Into an Unmovement on Bali Shores 14 December 2024

Bali, Indonesia – December 14, 2024 – A distinguished gathering of global leaders, spiritual figures, and renowned artists has convened on the sacred shores of Kura Kura Bali to seek ancient wisdom and modern solutions to pressing global challenges on Tri Hita Karana Universal Reflection Journey: Uniting in Diversity for Peace, Prosperity, People, Planet, and Partnership (5P’s).

Pope Francis, Grand Imam Nasaruddin, Hollywood Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh, World Bank President Ajay Banga, Bridgewater founder Ray Dalio, spiritual leader Deepak Chopra, philanthropist Susan Rockefeller, and the Indonesian government have come together to participate in a unique event that celebrates unity, diversity, and sustainable development.

Ray Dalio, a global macro investor for more than 50 years join the THK U movement. "From Abu Dhabi to Bali, we are united in a common cause: to create a world where diversity is celebrated, and harmony prevails. Let us honor the spirit of Istiqlal and work together to build a better future for all,” Dalio said.

As thousands of candles are lit, a mesmerizing Balinese Dance of Peace ceremony will unfold, unveiling a 17x35-meter cloth emblazoned with SDG 16 - Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. This global movement, inspired by the Istiqlal Declaration and the spirit of friendship fostered by Pope Francis and Grand Imam Nasaruddin, aims to reinforce the commitment to peace and harmony.

The event will feature a captivating performance of the "Lilin Lilin Kecil" (Little Little Candles) song, accompanied by a global anthem composed from instruments around the world. Contemporary artists from the G20 and H20 will showcase their work through illuminating rotating constellation art domes scattered across the island of Serangan, Bali.

This gathering serves as a powerful platform to discuss and address critical issues such as climate change, social inequality, and global peace. By combining ancient wisdom with modern innovation, participants hope to inspire a global movement towards a more sustainable and equitable future.

"Tonight, we all witness the power of light from a small candle that can unite the world," said Tantowi Yahya, President of the United In Diversity Foundation. "The Tri Hita Karana Universal Reflection Journey (THK U) is not just an event but a movement that invites us to build a more sustainable future, based on the principles of harmony between humans, nature, and spirituality."

The lit 'small candles' will serve as a sign of a shared commitment to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supporting the initiatives of the G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance (GBFA). Rooted in the principles of harmony with humans, nature, and the Divine, THK U offers a space for everyone to celebrate humanity and build a better future.

In this event, participants were invited to transform from ego-centric thinking to eco-centric solutions, build networks with leaders from various sectors, and ignite spiritual, collaborative, and intellectual potential. As Tantowi said in his press conference, "THK U is a beacon of hope in the darkness, inspiring us to create a better future for generations to come." Let us make this moment the starting point for greater change. Together we can create a more just, harmonious, and sustainable world.

Constellation: Global Reflections, H2O Edition
"Constellation: Global Reflections, H2O Edition" takes us on a profound journey into the interconnectedness between humans and nature. In the context of Tri Hita Karana, where harmony with nature is key to sustainable living this exhibition highlights the effect of climate change. Curated by renowned artist Lance M. Fung, this annual exhibition brings together twelve new artists representing various island nations worldwide. Through thought-provoking installations and paintings, these artists voice their concerns about the impact of the water crisis on communities and ecosystems.

The twelve new artists were selected to create new artworks that would become a global platform dedicated to exploring inclusive and innovative solutions for critical water-related issues, particularly in accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030. Themes range from water access, quality, sea-level rise, and many other urgent situations. The diverse and passionate group of artists for this second edition includes Mariam Alnoaimi (Bahrain), Ragnar Axelsson (Iceland), Carlos Esteves (Cuba), David Gumbs (Martinique), Katie Holton (Ireland), Sid Natividad (Philippines), Donna Ong (Singapore), Gayan Prageeth (Sri Lanka), Alexis Rockman (USA), Abigail Romanchak (Hawaii), Citra Sasmita (Bali), and Michael Tuffery (New Zealand).

Hati Indonesia Polyhedra: Uniting the World Through Art and Action
The "Hati Indonesia Polyhedra" installation is a tangible manifestation of the spirit of unity and diversity that lies at the heart of THK U. In collaboration with the Scholas Occurrentes Foundation, this interconnected geometric installation invites us to see ourselves as part of a larger whole. The creation process involved active community participation, with people contributing ideas, time, and materials. Thus, "Hati Indonesia Polyhedra" not only becomes a work of art but also a symbol of the spirit of cooperation and environmental concern.
